Cerah Hodson Rodriguez

 A native of San Diego, California, Mezzo-Soprano, Cerah Hodson Rodriguez is a junior at San Diego State University pursuing her B.M. in Vocal Performance and studies with Dr. Travis Sherwood. She recently performed the role of Hansel from Hansel and Gretel with SDSU Opera Theater, directed by Dr. Travis Sherwood. In 2023, she made her debut as Dorthée from L’amant anonyme with the SDSU Opera Theater, directed by Dr Alan Hicks. She has been a part of  SDSU’s Treble Choir since 2022, under the choral direction of Dr. Arian Khaefi.  Highlights of her awards and scholarships include: First Place winner in the Advanced College Division and the Sparrow Award for NATS San Diego Chapter 2023, Second Place Winner for the California Women’s Chorus Annual Scholarship (2023), and First Place in the Adult Division and the Sparrow Award for NATS San Diego Chapter (2022). She has also been a recipient for the Morley H Golden Opera Scholarship. 

    Passionate about her studies, she also holds four associate degrees from Grossmont Community College in Classical Music Studies, Performance Studies,  AA in Liberal Arts and Studies, and AA for transfer. She is passionate about local artist projects, she has previously performed and been an ensemble member for the Vocal Jazz Ensemble group at Grossmont College, where she studied vocal jazz with Melonie Grinnell. She enjoys working with local San Diegan musicians and composers.
