Andrew Michel
Andrew Michel was born and raised in San Diego and comes from a musically diverse family. From a young age, he was surrounded by the sounds of traditional Mexican music, folk, jazz, blues, rock, and many other musical genres. As a teenager, Andrew chose electric bass as his primary instrument.
After a brief stint in the Navy, Andrew returned to San Diego and began getting involved in the local music scene. Later, he would go on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from SDSU.
Andrew has performed in numerous music venues across the United States, Mexico, and throughout Europe. He is currently a music educator, and can usually be found with Betamaxx: a high energy rock band playing hits from the 1980’s. Most recently, Andrew has been involved with First Fiction: an original project comprised of himself and Los Angeles drummer/educator Christopher Rios.
